District milestones as per department
FORESTRY DEPARTMENT The department had empowered about 25 private nursery owners who produce forest trees and fruit trees seedlings, these farmers receive income from selling of these seedlings. There are also 12 bee-keepers who had been trained by the department, and they are already enjoying the benefits by selling honey within the district
RANGE MANAGEMENT Mokhotlong is endowed with vast rangelands which contribute greatly into the economy of the district. As a result the department has embarked into rehabilitating degraded rangelands in order to increase their productivity and carrying capacity. Motseremeli and Ha Mohale grazing areas reflect the success story of rangelands that had been rehabilitated and properly managed by the communities
CONSERVATION DEPARTMENT The department had assisted farmers, schools and churches with construction of tanks that are used for irrigation of crops and nurseries. Some of the farmers are involved in commercial farming so the tanks aided to have high yields. Again, the department had been involved in rehabilitation of land and prevention of soil erosion
