FUNCTIONS OF RESEARCH SECTION

Responsible for appropriate silvicultural operations, tree breeding, nursery research, entomology, pathology and botany.

i)          Construction of research trials 
ii)         Simplify matching tree species to site
iii)        Establish and maintain seed stands on selected species for provision of adequate high quality tree seed.
iv)        Respond to tree diseases and pests outbreak at nursery and maturity levels.
v)         Establish the information dissemination bank on tree phenology and botany

National Tree seed centre (NTSC)

Collects, processes and supplies tree seed to Government, NGOs and privately owned nurseries, with a common interest in seedling propagation for sales and for private and National plantings. Conducts training on tree seed handling and seedling production even for private producers
