“Optimizing Nature's Wealth for Sustainable Development” -
The Ministry of Environment and Forestry is pleased to announce the forthcoming Dialogue on Natural Resource Governance in Lesotho, scheduled to take place from May 14th to 16th 2024, at Avani Lesotho. The dialogue aims to facilitate the exchange of experiences and insights on Natural Resource Governance, emphasizing monitoring, gender mainstreaming, and bolstering ecosystem resilience in Lesotho and the sub-Saharan region against climate change. The objectives include fostering stakeholder coordination, improving policy and legal frameworks, enforcing laws, sharing knowledge, harmonizing practices, and boosting financial resources for natural resource management.
The dialogue will feature the presentation of research papers, case studies, policy briefs, and best practices, showcasing various issues related to natural resource governance.
We cordially invite submissions of abstracts of published papers and reports from individual scientists and practitioners, research organizations, academia, government, non-governmental organizations and the private sector in Lesotho and the Sub-Saharan region, aligned with the following themes:
- Institutional, Policy and Legal frameworks supportive of Natural Resources.
- Nature based solutions in the ecosystems (land degradation neutrality, biodiversity conservation, forestry, rangelands, water resources, and dry-land cropping).
- Semi-arid ecosystem monitoring as a tool for Natural Resource management.
- Gender and social inclusion in natural resources governance.
All submissions will undergo review by an expert committee, and only published papers and reports meeting the committee's criteria will be accepted for presentation at the dialogue. The abstract must accurately summarize the purpose, methodology, results and conclusion of the research.
